Black and Poverty

Some Muslims believe that the color black represents poverty. They also say that using black objects can cause harm. Is this belief correct?

I prepared a black garment for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He wore it. When he started sweating, he took it off because he felt the smell of wool.

Narrated by Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her)

Narrated by Abu Dawood 3552

There are many hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wore black garments and black wool.

From this it can be understood that the belief that black things cause poverty is a superstition. All colours are permissible in Islam except for saffron.
