 Diabetes Types

Diabetes is a chronic medical disorder in which the body turns food into energy. It is concerned with insulin, a hormone generated by the pancreas to help regulate blood sugar levels. Some types of diabetes have various causes or treatments, including the following:

1. Type 1 Diabetes

Cause: The immune system mistakenly attacks the pancreas cells that produce insulin in the body, thereby limiting or entirely stopping the production.

Management: Needs daily injections of insulin or an insulin pump

Onset: Typically in childhood or young adulthood, but can appear at any age.

2. Insufficient insulin synthesis or insulin resistance lead to the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

Management: Oral medications, insulin, and dietary and activity modifications are used to control this.

Origin: Prevalent in adults, however because of lifestyle decisions, younger individuals are becoming more and more afflicted.3

3. Gestational diabetes.

Cause: During pregnancy, when the body can't produce enough insulin to meet extra needs. Treatment: Usually managed with a special meal plan and exercise. Insulin injections may be needed. Most often disappear after the baby is born. Increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life.Atoms of Diabetes: Increased urination Increased thirst Unexplained weight loss Fatigue Blurred vision Slow healing sores Long-Term Complications: If not managed well, diabetes can lead to serious health problems such as: Heart disease Kidney damage

Neuropathy—nerve damage

Retinopathy—eye damage

Problems with the feet

How to Manage Diabetes:

Diet: Follow a plant-based diet, rich in whole grains, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. No processed sugar and no refined carbohydrates are allowed.

Exercise: Keeping physically fit makes you more receptive to insulin.

Medicines: Insulin and other injectable medications (if prescribed) can control blood sugar.

Monitoring: As your physician will not be able to keep a tab on your fastings and readings, you are expected to monitor your sugar levels regularly and periodically review with him to check if you are managing your diabetes well.
